Pressure from pro GMO lobbies is at it’s height in Poland now. All the good work done during last four years to keep GMO out of Poland are being undermined.
In this situation one of the most important actions of our campaign is to reinforce and strengthen the status of GMO free zones in Polish provinces (we have 16 provinces). Also creating new GMO Free Zones on levels of farms and communities, smaller units which could ultimately be stronger than on the level of provinces.
This must be done first of all by the residents of each province. So far the provincial authorities in Poland are not in the position to make a ‘local law’ but a change is coming – a new proposal to change the ‘general GMO Act’ will give local authorities power to decide about GMO and create GMO free zones.
